Security & Surveillance

Cynon Valley Crime Reduction Services (CVCRS) is a social enterprise, not only does it bring jobs to deprived local communities but the profits CVCRS make through trading are gifted back to the charity CVCPA.  This helps support award winning community projects aimed at tackling crime by getting everyone working together to understand and tackle the issues.  There is evidence that the combination of services to reduce the opportunities for crime, combined with jobs and training that open up employment opportunities as well as its charitable projects, has contributed to a significant reduction in the crime statistics of the Cynon Valley.

Targeting the domestic and commercial market at competitive prices was the main thrust of the new company.  It has developed into broad based company providing the following services:

  • Locking Systems
  • Monitoring of CCTV and Intruder alarm systems via remote signalling or mobile telephone

Long-term involvement in local business and community enterprise networks enabled CVCRS to build knowledge of the procurement process and develop a network of useful contacts.

Getting onto tender lists involved a big investment in systems and training development, including:

  • National Security Inspectorate NACOSS Gold approval
  • Secure by design standard
  • Level Green Dragon environmental moving towards ISO 1400 / 1800
  • Environmental standard.

The company was invited to attend “Meet the Buyer” and “How to Tender” workshops organised by the former Welsh Development Agency (now Welsh Assembly Government) and Rhondda Cynon Taff local authority.  Further advice came from Contract Shop’s “Supplier Champion” for the area.

In 2006, CVCRS won a competitive public sector tender, worth at least £300,000 to deliver security and smoke alarm services in South, West and Mid Wales through The EAGA partnership.
